The concept of Freedom Home of Upstate New York Inc. was based on a mother's love, the concern for her son and individuals with autism and developmental challenges.
Universally, caregivers ask the question, "Who will provide care for my loved one when I am no longer able?"
Rosemarie Roughton was inspired to take action to provide for the life long needs of her son, living with autism.The solution was to create appropriate housing and care for her son, Richie.
On twenty five acres of family land in Ruby, New York, Rosemarie set out to build a home meticulously designed to meet her son's needs. Richie's home was completed on August 21,2009.Rosemarie worked to establish a self-directed support program that fosters independence & personal choices. This program assists her son meet his academic, social, emotional goals and challenge him for exceptional progress. The success of this home prompted Rosemarie to envision several such homes on the property in Ruby. Ultimately, the idea for Freedom Home of Upstate New York, Inc. was born.
Freedom Home of Upstate New York was incorporated on April 24, 2013.
